Head of School: Dave Houlston

The School offers degree courses in Outdoor Studies and Adventure Recreation Management at the Ambleside Campus; Coaching & Sport Development, Coaching & Sport Performance, Sport & Exercise Science, Sports Studies, Sport Studies and Sport Development and Sport Studies & Sport History at the Lancaster Campus; and Physical Education with Sport or Health Development at the Carlisle Campus.

The facilities for delivering these courses are excellent with a £2.5m Lottery Funded Sports Complex at Lancaster, a state of the art Outdoor Studies Centre at Ambleside and a new Sports Complex at Carlisle. Staff who teach on the courses have national reputations in coaching, sports administration and outdoor activities.

Over 90% of students complete the course and obtain employment with over 60% gaining jobs in sport and outdoor related areas and we were awarded 10 out of 10 for graduate employment in the Guardian’s prestigious University Guide in May 2006.
