St
Martin's College is in one of the most unrivalled geographical positions
in North West England - Morecambe Bay, the Lake District, the Yorkshire
Dales and the Solway Firth. We are ideally placed for access to
the motorway system (M6) as well as the major airports of Manchester,
Newcastle and Glasgow and stations on the West Coast railway line.
The
three main campuses are Ambleside, Carlisle and Lancaster. Ambleside
is one of the most beautiful towns of Lakeland and the picturesque
campus occupies 15 acres. Carlisle is a vibrant centre, affectionately
known as the Great Border City with the campus only a few minutes
from the pedestrianised area. Lancaster is the historic county town
of Lancashire with the 35 acres of SMC campus just ten minutes walk
from the centre.
In addition to these campuses we have substantial sites in Barrow,
Whitehaven, and London Teaching Sites; Tower Hamlets Development Centre
and Greenwich.
Our Anglican foundation and vision is reflected in
our Mission Statement - to excel, to welcome, to value, to respond.
Living in such a beautiful area, with the attractive gardens of
our graffiti-free, residential campuses, we have a commitment to
health and green issues. SMC has a no smoking policy, has health
promotion days, puts time aside for recreation, relaxation and meditation
and, with our Environmental Policy, makes every effort to conserve
energy and recycle as far as possible.
